Christmas '11

Here are some photos of Christmas on the farm! Big A, unfortunately, wasn't with us for Christmas this year. Everyone missed her sweet, smiling face and presence. Hence, there are not photos of her in this "family" post. In the mean time, we will look forward to next Christmas and having her a part of the Raasch Five again. Winter has been shaping up to be rather mild this year, thus the temp was about 50 on Christmas Day!

Sunroom photo!

The chaotic gift unveiling! Each year keeps getting more chaotic...6 grandkids and counting...

Catching Up

What have I been up to lately, you ask? Where should I start??

Since beginning our adventures as a "stay-at-home" (sort of) mom and working part-time evenings, we have gone through quite the lifestyle change. As I type this post, the sink is piled with lunch dishes, the laundry mound is growing rapidly, toys are strewn everywhere, the dust is getting thicker, Christmas shopping isn't even half completed and hopefully E is falling asleep for her nap. Little A, on the other hand, is likely up to no good upstairs. Even though these three hours are named "quiet time" a.k.a. "mommy time," this happens a lot less frequently than I would like. :)

This schedule change has definitely been a challenge, but I now have a new appreciation for my job! I'm now just getting about 6-6.5 hours of sleep at night during the week, which is quite an adjustment, but sometimes I can squeeze in a nap in the afternoon if I convince Little A to lay on the couch with me. Love my job, in fact, and most days 6:00 does not come soon enough. Love my kids as well, but I'm not great at parenting I admit.

Most everyday we get out of the house following breakfast for a morning activity. Three days a week we head to the Y where they offer free childcare for members, and I get a chance to work off my sleepiness in group exercise classes (awesome) followed by some treadmill fun. This I enjoy, not only for a better body image, but more energy and stress relief. :) We are also now members at the Children's Museum downtown which we visit once a week. The other weekday is either spent at the library for storytime/checking out new books or we just hang out in our pajamas all day.

I have come to accept the fact that Christmas cards/letters will not go out this year - anyone who wants to keep up with us either reads the blog or friends me on Facebook. Not enough time in the day. I will be very lucky to even finish my shopping. There is an abundance of pictures on FB/blog, which I could never squeeze into a Christmas card anyway!

Last, but not least for now, I registered for the Lincoln Half Marathon last week!! Craziness, huh? I now have just under five months before the race. Yikes! Running is taking every last ounce of my time these days...

Not sure when I'll get back to posting again, but I hope to at least get some pictures on before the end of the year. Merry Christmas to all my loyal blog readers!!!
