As I sit down to my computer (with a glass of wine), I'm trying to get back into blogging mode. Trying to catch up with unfinished posts and adding all sorts of photos. This has been my online diary since before my youngest was born, and I'm sad to be so behind on it! Now that I'm back to working the day shift with the kids in daycare, my goal is to keep up better!! Kind of feel like I'm going backwards, but there is so much to say since last fall...so here we go!
We are very grateful to Grammy and Grandpa Raasch for putting up with us for the week and sharing their cabin with the Raasch Five. THANK YOU!! We just got home last night. It was a much-needed, much-anticipated vacation!! The kids were very well-behaved and (we think) E's turning point of being officially potty trained. Woohoo! She did so well with staying dry the whole time of our trip. We were also excited to meet up with my parents and brother and his girlfriend who were also vacationing in Estes! Hope they liked the place as much as we do and return in the future!!
We also have been looking forward to this time away to celebrate our new jobs and my going back to full time day shift venture. It's been a truly rewarding 2012 thus far. Praise the Lord!
The trip began last Sunday when we headed to Ogallala to stay in a hotel and do some sightseeing at Lake McConaughy. Since I have so many pictures to post, I will do a three-part vacation post. :)
Here are Days 1-3, June 3-5, of our trip:

Lake McConaughy Dam
When we visited the lake in June 2008 (my middle one on the right was a mere 10 months old), the lake was experiencing record low levels. Now there is excess!! |

On Tuesday, we visited Prospect Mountain via tram! The top beholds cool views of the town of Estes Park and various peaks, such as Long's Peak - the highest peak in Rocky Mountain National Park at 14,259 feet - as well as Twin Owls (picture to be posted in part III), etc. Initially, the tram frightened E, and she let us all know by vocally expressing her opposition. She tried running away as we all piled in the red tram car. However, it must not have been that bad as there were no tears on the way back down.

She giggled when they took the peanut from her hand. So cute! |
