In Remembrance...

I miss my grandma. Dearly. Today marks 2 years since her passing, and I think about her always. What a life she had. What a special lady to everyone who knew her.

Cancer can be devastating and vengeful, and in her case, tragic. I see patients being diagnosed with cancer every day - we have to BOLDface those diagnoses. Urgent. Time sensitive. It's all around us. Unfortunately, we all have a family member or friend affected by it's path.

Being pregnant, I am sad that she doesn't get to hold her new great-grandbaby. I'd love to be able to tell her she is going to have a fourth great-grandchild. It was just 3 weeks after Little A was born that she left us. She was too sick to meet her great-granddaughter that day in the hospital. Mom has always said Grandma passed on her smile to Little A when she was born. Anyone who saw her smile knew that it was contagious. Little A smiled unusually early for a newborn. Not just the smiles that babies have when they sleep but the gummy smile she gave when she looked at you from about a month on. I recently ran across these two photos which happen to be hanging next to each other on the refrigerator. Cover the photos from nose up and take a look at their grins. I was amazed at the similarity!

You decide:

I miss you, Grandma. You are one of my favorite angels. Love you.
