Day 7 - 4th Floor, Children's Hospital

Today I got this feeding tube out of my nose for the second and last time!
Also, I finally started taking a pacifier!

Thought maybe we could leave today. Guess not. All doctors have different opinions. I think we've heard all of them. We were very optimistic in the PICU when she was eating well, and the intensivist said maybe she could go home Monday. Up on the floor we have not seen sufficient weight gain and feedings. However, the feedings are getting better since we've finally found a bottle nipple that she doesn't mind. When the team rounded today, the hospitalist said she has "lost a lot of weight." We need to see an improvement before discharge. In the 24 hour period of Sunday midnight to Monday midnight, she had lost 100 grams or 3.5 ounces. From a respiratory standpoint, we have obviously seen an improvement. Her oxygen saturation levels are consistently 99-100%. The concern is weight gain at this point.
